What we do not know
An open question is something the current evidence cannot answer, as opposed to something a provider is hiding. In microcurrent neurofeedback most of the interesting questions are still open, including how it works and who it suits.
This page is the shortest honest summary of the gaps. We are not softening it.
Do we know the mechanism?
No. There are plausible accounts involving the nervous system responding to a very small signal, and there is no settled, measured mechanism that the field agrees on.
A confident mechanism story told at a sales consultation is a story. Treat it as one.
Do we know how long any change lasts?
No. Follow-up windows in the available work are short, and long term follow-up is largely absent.
So we cannot tell you whether anything you notice after a session persists for a week, a month, or at all.
Do we know who responds and who does not?
No. There is no validated way to predict in advance who will notice a change. Nobody in this field can screen for responsiveness, whatever the marketing suggests.
This is the honest reason we do not sell packages up front. Committing you to a block of visits would require knowing something we do not know.
Do we know the right number of sessions?
No. There is no established dose, spacing, or total. Session counts quoted in this category come from practice habit and business models rather than from a body of evidence.
We describe what a session involves and let you decide visit by visit.
Do we know how much of the effect is expectation?
No, and this is the largest gap. Sitting still in a quiet room with someone paying attention to you has effects of its own, independent of any device.
Separating that from a device effect requires controlled and blinded designs that this niche has barely attempted.
What do we know?
We know what the device is cleared for. We know what happens in a session, minute by minute. We know how we screen, what we will not claim, and when we will tell you to stop.
That is a smaller list than most sites in this category present. It is the list we can stand behind.

Momentous Neurofeedback is a wellness practice. We use an FDA-cleared biofeedback device indicated for relaxation training and muscle reeducation.
We do not provide medical care and we do not assess or identify health conditions. We make no promise about any outcome, and nothing on this site should be read as one.
Sessions are not a substitute for care from a licensed clinician. If you have a health concern, speak with your own provider. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

If this page makes you want to wait, that is a reasonable response and we will say so.
