FAQ

Questions people ask us most

This page collects the questions we are asked before someone books, grouped by topic. Every answer is short, and every answer points to the page that covers the same ground in depth.

If a question you need is not here, ask us directly. We would rather answer it than have you guess.

About the modality

About the modality

What this actually is, and what it is not.

What is microcurrent neurofeedback?

It is a passive approach in which sensors are placed on the scalp and a very small, brief electrical signal runs while you sit still. You are not asked to concentrate, train, or perform a task.

Read the full explainer on microcurrent neurofeedback
How is this different from EEG neurofeedback?

EEG neurofeedback asks you to train, usually with a screen or a sound responding to your own brain activity over many sessions. This approach asks nothing of you during the session. They share a name and very little else.

Compare microcurrent and traditional neurofeedback
Does this replace meditation, breathwork, or exercise?

No. It sits alongside them. Nothing about a session competes with a practice you already have, and we would not suggest dropping one for this.

What does the research actually support?

The published work on this specific approach is early, mostly small, and mixed in design quality. It does not support strong claims, and we do not make any.

About sessions

About sessions

The practical shape of a visit.

What happens during a session?

You sit in a chair, two small areas of skin are cleaned, sensors are placed, and a brief signal runs. Most people feel nothing while it runs. The rest of the appointment is quiet sitting.

Read what a session is like, start to finish
How long is a first visit?

About an hour, because it includes intake paperwork, a walk through of the room, and time for your questions. Later visits are shorter.

See the first visit timeline
How will you feel afterward?

The most common report is that nothing noticeable happened. Some people report tiredness, fogginess, a mild headache, restlessness, or vivid dreams for a short period. None of that predicts anything.

Read what people report after a session
How many sessions will you need?

We do not promise a number, because there is no established number to promise. Spacing is a scheduling decision we revisit with you as you go.

Read how visits are usually spaced
What should you bring?

Clean dry hair with no heavy product, comfortable clothes, a normal meal beforehand, and photo ID for a first visit. Nothing else is required.

See the what to bring list
How do you know whether anything changed?

You track it yourself with two short 0 to 10 prompts you answer before and after. They are self report and they are not a clinical measure.

About safety

About safety

Where we say no, and where we send you elsewhere first.

Who is this not appropriate for?

We decline where there is an implanted electrical device, where a person cannot give their own informed agreement, where someone arrives under the influence of alcohol or a substance, and where someone is in acute distress and needs a clinician now.

Read safety and suitability in full
Should you talk to your own clinician first?

Yes, if you are pregnant, under active care for anything neurological, have a history of seizure activity, or are managing an ongoing health matter with a professional. They know your history and we do not.

See when to speak with your clinician first
What is the regulatory status of the device?

It is FDA cleared, which is a different regulatory step from clearance's stricter sibling, and the indication is relaxation training and muscle reeducation. Clearance is not a statement that a product does anything in particular.

Read what FDA clearance means
What are the open questions nobody can answer yet?

Long term effects for this specific approach, who responds and who does not, and how much of what people report would happen anyway. We publish those gaps rather than hiding them.

About cost

About cost

What you pay and what you do not.

What does a session cost?

Single visits and packages are listed openly, with a first visit priced above a standard visit because it runs longer. Amounts on the site are placeholders until rates are locked, so confirm with us before booking.

See session and package pricing
Is the consultation charged?

No. A consultation is a conversation rather than a session, and you are not required to book anything afterward.

Book a consultation
Do packages expire?

No. Packages carry no expiry date, so a gap of weeks or months does not cost you a session.

Read how pricing is structured
Will insurance cover this?

Assume not. This is a wellness service rather than medical care, so it is normally paid directly. We do not submit claims or code visits for reimbursement.

About organizations

About organizations

Group programs for teams and departments.

Can an organization arrange sessions for a group?

Yes. Group arrangements are quoted per program rather than per session, and scheduling is built around the way the group actually works.

Read about group programs for organizations
How do you request a proposal?

Send us the size of the group, the location, and the constraints on scheduling, and we come back with a written proposal rather than a verbal figure.

Request a written proposal
Can sessions happen at our own site?

In many cases yes, depending on the room available and the number of people involved. Ask us and we will tell you plainly whether your space works.

About privacy

About privacy

Who knows you were here.

Does an employer find out who attended?

Not from us. Where an employer funds a program, they receive participation counts in aggregate and nothing that identifies a person.

Read our privacy and anonymity commitment for groups
Does this site track you?

There is no third party advertising, remarketing, heatmap, or session replay script anywhere on this site, and the self tracking prompts are not stored here at all.

Read the privacy policy
What do you do with what you tell us on a form?

We use it to contact you about the appointment you asked for. Booking forms explicitly ask you not to include medical details, because we do not need them and do not want them.

Please read this

Momentous Neurofeedback is a wellness practice. We use an FDA-cleared biofeedback device indicated for relaxation training and muscle reeducation.

We do not provide medical care and we do not assess or identify health conditions. We make no promise about any outcome, and nothing on this site should be read as one.

Sessions are not a substitute for care from a licensed clinician. If you have a health concern, speak with your own provider. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Still have a question we did not answer

Ask a person. A consultation costs nothing and there is no obligation to book a visit afterward.
