We use an FDA-cleared biofeedback device indicated for relaxation training and muscle reeducation. That indication is the complete regulatory description of what the equipment is for, and we do not extend it.
This page describes the category, the clearance, and the physical setup in plain words. None of the wording here comes from the manufacturer.
What category of device is this?
A biofeedback device. It reads activity at the scalp through surface sensors and returns an extremely small electrical signal during a short session.
The current involved is microcurrent, far below the level a person can feel. Most people report feeling nothing at all while a session runs, which surprises them.
- Surface sensors on the scalp and ears. Nothing is inserted and nothing breaks the skin.
- A session runs for minutes rather than an hour.
- The person rests. There is no task and nothing to control.
What does FDA cleared mean for this device?
Cleared means the device went through a regulatory pathway showing it is substantially equivalent to a device already on the market for the same indication. It is a different and lower bar than the pathway people usually have in mind.
Clearance is about the device and its stated indication. It is not a statement that the device produces a particular result for a particular person. The device clearance page walks through the distinction in full.
What is the actual indication?
Relaxation training and muscle reeducation. Those five words are the indication, and everything we say about the equipment sits inside them.
Anything you read elsewhere that stretches past that indication is a claim about the device that the clearance does not carry. Our standards page commits us to staying inside it.
How is the equipment maintained and logged?
Sensors and leads are checked before each session and the equipment log records every session run on the unit. Consumables are replaced on a schedule rather than when they look worn.
Will I feel the signal?
Almost certainly not. The current is well below the threshold of sensation. What people notice, if anything, is the quiet of sitting still.
Is anything recorded about me by the device?
Session records stay with the practice and are not shared. For organization programs, only counts leave the practice and never names.
